“The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation. JUST DO IT. Whatever [it is]. Do it without motivation. And then, guess what? After you start doing the thing, that's when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it.” ~John C. Maxwell

Let's get it in 2010! Happy New Year!

No More Talk Show for Tyra.

Via ABC News:

Former supermodel Tyra Banks said on Monday she is ending her Emmy-award winning TV daytime talk show in the spring of 2010. Banks, 36, said in a posting on her official web site that the current fifth season of "The Tyra Show" on the CW network, would be the last. "This will be the last season of 'The Tyra Show'," Banks said. "I have been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past 5 years."

"My next huge steps will allow me to reach more women and young girls to help us all feel as fierce as we truly are," she added. Banks said she would soon be launching her own New York-based production company Bankable Studios and was excited at the prospect of making movies but could not yet give details.

She will however host the 15th season of "America's Next Top Model" reality show contest on the CW in February. Banks has used her talk show to promote women's issues, particularly body image and the media's perception of how women should look.

In August she posed with a group of women in underwear in New York's Union Square to promote the show's campaign of "rocking what you've got". In September she took the weave out of her hair and appeared on the show with her natural hair. The syndicated "The Tyra Banks Show" won a second daytime Emmy award in August for best informative talk show.

In her web posting, Banks thanked her fans for their support. "I salute YOU, my amazing family of viewers: Thank you so so soooooo much for your support and love. Without you, there never would have been a Tyra Show. I really love you all."

Are You Buying the "Heat" Beyonce is Selling?

via WWD:
Beyoncé Knowles is aiming to light a much-needed fire under the beleaguered fragrance business this February with her first scent, Beyoncé Heat. Industry sources estimate it could do $100 million at retail globally in its first year on counter. At least half of that figure is expected to come from U.S. sales.

And the entertainer — who is up for 10 Grammys on Jan. 31 — is more than up for the challenge. She can’t wait to get her scent into the hands of her fans.

“I’m so happy with it,” she said during an exclusive interview with WWD. “I’ve been working on it for a while now. I was on tour for a year, and I have meet-and-greets with fans. I’ve never in my life gotten so many compliments. Coty has their own testing, but that was my testing! The fans loved it. They were like, ‘I love that, I’m getting that, why isn’t it out right now? I need it!” said Knowles with a laugh.

2009 A Record Year for Movie Ticket Sales [VIDEO]

I believe it, a good movie can be a wonderful escape from everything else that's going on. I still need to see "The Blind Side" and "The Princess and the Frog" and I'm kinda even looking forward to Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin's movie "It's Complicated" opening Christmas Day.

Why I Don't Care Much For "Launch My Line" on Bravo...

Ok, so I watched the premiere of "Launch My Line" on Bravo last night and I knew I didn't like it within the first 10 minutes of the show. Firstly, the show is a lame attempt by Bravo to make up for losing Project Runway to Lifetime IMO, albeit with a slight twist. The entire premise of the show is that a "well known personality" is paired with a "design expert" to assist them in launching their line. So after the first 5 minutes of the show, I'm saying to myself, "This is brazen exploitation! They're pimping these designers!" I read an article recently over at The Faster Times regarding celebrities or well known personalities doing clothing lines that pretty much sums it up for me. So yeah... I don't think I'll be TIVOing "Launch My Line" anytime soon. Not a fan.

Designing your own dress shirts? What a novel idea!

Blank Label is a provider of custom men's dress shirts, that's empowering the everyday shopper to become the designer. Ladies will love Blank Label's custom dress shirt configurator because it's simple to use, and intuitive enough to make YOU the fashion designer you've always dreamed of becoming! (OK, not quite, but the application is still pretty cool). The Christmas season is near, and with Blank Label's relatively quick turnaround of 21 days there's not much time left to place your order if you wanted to get a shirt for a friend, family member or loved one as a gift this Christmas season.

A custom dress shirt can be a cool gift because you can say "yeah, I designed it," which adds that special touch, especially since you can make it their own Personally Branded Label too (i.e. you can get John a custom made shirt that reads "John's Label" on the inside of his collar!) In addition to designing and Labeling the shirt, you can monogram it with a nickname or initials. In fact, for this holiday season, they are offering a limited promocode for $10 off your next order (limit is for first 50 users, and I'm not sure how many are left, so shop away!). The promocode is 10disc, and again, that's for $10 off your holiday order. Use it while it lasts! So place your Blank Label Dress Shirt order TODAY and happy dress shirt designing!
