Diddy and girlfriend Kim Porter arrived in the South of France today - July 30 (for their annual White Party in St. Tropez). Leave it to Kim to make a simple track suit look like it's on somebody's runway... love it...

Russell and Kimora with kids Aoki and Ming Lee hosted the Art for Life event at their Hamptons home on Saturday (July 29). They are looking every bit the happy family in this pic... are they working some things out or just smiling for the cameras. I can't tell...

Star and Al were also there... And it would literally drain the remaining energy I have in me, on this peaceful Sunday afternoon, to comment on Al's "outfit"...

But truly, I didn't comment on Al, because I wanted to save up for the extreme foolishness that is pictured below... and no I'm not talking about Gayle, though she could use some work too... I am referring to Donna. Yes Donna Karan, high end clothing designer. First of all Donna, are you kidding me? Because you cannot be serious here. What you have on, if I may even call it a dress, is sooooo wrong on soooooo many levels. To quote Heather and Jessica over at the Fug blog:
"the madness will never stop if the people who actually MAKE the clothes don't snap out of it."

I Heart Liya Kebede's HAIR...

Liya Kebede, Ethiopian supermodel. Victoria's Secret, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton and the Gap have all used her on their runways and in their ad campaigns. She's the new face of Estee Lauder. First black person to EVER serve as representative for that cosmetics company in its 57 year history. She was appointed WHO Goodwill Ambassador for Maternal, newborn and child health. She is a wife, and a mother, all at the tender age of 28. Such an accomplished and beautiful person.

But I celebrate Liya for something all together different... her hair. Healthy, beautiful, long black pocahontas hair. Hair that seems to move in slow motion when the wind blows. Fabulous, glorious hair.

With all the ungodly things that hairstylists have to do to a models hair for shows, photo shoots, etc., it is nothing short of a miracle that her hair looks this healthy at all. And I know a little something about tearing up some hair. Trust that.

I had long beautiful glorious hair back when I was little. But like many of you, I went through hair stages of wanting shorter hair (cut it when I was a teenager), different colored hair (colored it several times), crimped hair, fried hair, finger-waved hair, braided hair and weaved hair, until what I ended up with was destroyed hair. I can remember a time when my hair came out in clumps from a complete and total lack of care. NO MORE! I guess you can say, I had seen the light (and I was getting tired of my hairstylist cussing me out everytime I sat in her chair). I decided it was time to stop the madness. I had to cut my hair short (again) to get rid of the damage... to sort of "start from scratch", and within the last couple years, I have grown my hair back considerably, but it wasn't without help. I started listening to my hairstylist, I started taking better care, and there was also a book I read that made me think differently on some things concerning black folks hair. Now please don't think that this is some sort of PSA/Infomercial or that I am in any way trying to help this lady sell her book or her hair products, because I'm not. It's just that so many people have asked me about my hair in the last few months, that I wanted to post the information that helped me get to this point (the stuff I been telling some of ya'll about, like using hair creme -- in the book). So if you are at all interested in the info, take from it what you can. Click here to learn more. And just so you know, the book may be available at your local library (free), which is how I got it, so check there too. Regardless of what your current hair style, healthy hair can be on the horizon!

You SHOULD take care of your hair, but it shouldn't DEFINE who you are... until next time..

Jill Scott was in New York on Wednesday shooting a new video for Lupe Fiasco called "Daydreaming" From the looks of it, it'll probably have a throwback 1920's-1940's kind of feel...

And on the left coast, California based clothing boutique Fred Segal had a fall fashion show in Hollywood, also on last Wednesday, for their new line "The Monarchy Collection". Some cute pieces, but I only saw a couple pieces I would personally wear from the girl's line. The guy's stuff was a little better in my opinion...

Project Runway Quickie Re-Cap...

Project Runway, Season 3 Episode 3. The challenge on last nights show was to design an outfit for cute little doggies and their owners. Follow along with me will you as I recap in about 3 seconds...

Uli won the challenge. Dress fit her model perfectly. Deserving of a win.
Keith seems to think he is completely entitled.
Can Michael PLEASE get some props! Been hitting home runs since episode one! STOP PASSING HIM OVER! Jeez...
Katherine got sent home. Judges seemed to like her doggies outfit better than her model's.

I'm Currently Stalking...

This fleshtone Catherine Malandrino party dress. Hot. If you had the chance to read my blog entry, "Things you maybe didn't know about me" you'd know my feelings for Ms. Malandrino's pieces. She is a very talented designer.

I think it's the color-blocking detail in the dress hem that I'm most exited about. I'm loving the contrast of the flesh tone against the black and white.

It has a built in shelf bra with hidden zipper in back. The empire waist and the pin-tucked bodice complete this stunning creation.

With a price tag of $575 (Shop Bop), I am stalking the dress until it turns up in a fabulous sale... or until I decide to go and buy some fabric to knock it off myself... whichever happens first.

Rock the Belts!

The belt trend continues...
Mya was spotted wearing the trend early morning July 26 in Miami, South Beach....


And yes, that's LaToya Luckett, (one of the original Destiny's child members) she has a new solo album coming out. She was spotted today in New York City at J & R Music World signing autographs, and she too knows how to wear the trend.

Style Verdict - Belt Trend

My verdict is already in on this trend. Anybody that has seen me out in the last few months has already seen me rock this look, so you already know my feelings on it. The belt trend didn't take as long for me to warm up to as some of the others.

But as always, I want to know what you guys think, I personally LOVE the look, but don't let my opinion sway you. Do YOU love it? Hate it? Don't care? Would you wear it? I want to know your style verdict.

Style Verdict - Skinny Jeans

Skinny Jeans. I DID NOT like this trend when I first laid eyes on it. Didn't like it AT ALL. But fashion is so funny and so fickle that sometimes if you stare at something long enough, you'll convince yourself that it's cute, and that you HAVE to HAVE said 'something', and then before you know it, you are completely STALKING a pair... but I digress...

I actually kind of like them now. Have not yet tried on a pair, so my personal verdict is incomplete until I do so. But I also think they are logical. What better pair of jeans to tuck into skinny boots than skinny jeans? Boot cut wouldn't work, as they are cut to wear OVER your boots. I think what turned me off at first sighting of the skinny jean trend was the fact that it is supposedly a narrower fit from waist to hip to thigh all the way down to your ankles, and the only people I saw wearing them were celebrities, and they were wearing them with hi-heeled pumps and sandals. I just couldn't see it. I hadn't seen any "real world" example of anyone wearing a pair, and until recently, I just could not wrap my mind around the look.

But now, after letting it marinate in my mind, when I see it dressed up with a heel, sleek and sophisticated, (like in the photo to the right, Rebecca Romijn does the look justice) I allow myself to think that I might look hot in a pair, so I don't close the door on it completely.

But I want to know what YOU think. Do you like it? Hate it? Don't care? Would YOU wear it? I wanna know YOUR style verdict.

The 8th Annual HollyRod DesignCure Event happened on Saturday July 22 in Beverly Hills, the Starry Night Benefit honoring Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa also went down on Saturday in Malibu, Wendy Williams hosted the "Dons and Divas" Ball in New York City on Saturday, and Walmart hosted panel discussions on "Empowering Women to Succeed in Hollywood" also on Saturday in Miami...
